WICHITA, KS – The 2025 NBC World Series has rescheduled Opening Day games on Thursday, July 24th, to earlier start times due to severe weather expected in the evening hours.
Tournament officials moved both contests from their original 6:00 PM and 8:30 PM start times to 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM, citing player safety and fan experience as primary concerns.
With a forecast of severe thunderstorms across the Wichita area Thursday evening, the NBC World Series decided to revise the schedule. The decision ensures both Opening Day matchups can be completed safely.
Opening Day Matchups
The revised schedule:
11:00 AM – Dodge City A’s vs. Seattle Cheney Studs (Pool B)
2:00 PM – Seattle Blackfins vs. Hays Larks (Pool A)
The Dodge City A’s will face the defending regional champions Seattle Cheney Studs in the tournament’s opening contest, while the Hays Larks, a local Kansas favorite, will take on the Seattle Blackfins in the afternoon game.
The schedule adjustment affects only Thursday’s games, with all subsequent tournament action proceeding as originally planned.
