Dylan Dreiling, a hometown guy from Hays, Kansas, is making some serious moves in baseball.
NBC Connection & Hometown Ties
Dylan’s baseball journey is seriously rooted in his hometown of Hays. He grew up in Hays and even played for the Hays Larks. And get this: his grandfather, Frank Leo, is the Larks manager. Baseball’s definitely in his blood. He didn’t just play for them, he left his mark. He’s tied for 4th in the Larks’ record books with 59 RBIs and he’s third in Slugging Percentage with .705! Plus, he played in the NBC World Series right here in Wichita for the Larks from 2020 to 2022. He’s got a real connection to the tournament.
Mr. Clutch
Before going pro, Dylan just crushed it at the University of Tennessee. He was named the College World Series Most Outstanding Player in 2024, leading the team to victory. He also made history as the first player in the Men’s College World Series to homer in all three games of the final series! In those three games, he went 7-for-12, with 4 runs, 7 RBIs, and 3 home runs. He was also a third-team All-American, a second-team All-Region pick, and first-team All-SEC, and even made the SEC’s academic honor roll both seasons he was there! He had multiple games with multiple home runs and a career-high of seven RBIs in a single game. Plus, he hit a game-winning two-run homer in the College World Series Finals! It’s no wonder they called him ‘Mr. Clutch’ for his ability to come through in big moments. Then, he got drafted by the Texas Rangers in the second round of the 2024 MLB Draft. Dream come true!
Spring Breakout
Dylan was just on the Rangers’ Spring Breakout roster! In their recent game against San Francisco, which ended in a 5-5 tie, he really showed off his hitting skills. He knocked in two RBIs, including a sweet RBI single to left field that started the scoring!

Now, he’s heading to the Rangers, joining fellow NBC alum Josh Jung! We’re so excited to see what he does in the pros. With his talent, work ethic, and that baseball family, we’re sure he’ll be a star. We’re always proud to see players who have played at the NBC World Series make it to the big leagues. Dylan’s story is just another example of the talent that comes through our tournament. We’re cheering him on every step of the way, and we know his hometown of Hays is super proud!
