11:00 AM: Dodge City A’s (KS) vs. Seattle Cheney Studs (WA)
In the opening game of the 2025 NBC World Series, the Dodge City A’s beat the Seattle Cheney Studs 8-0.
The story of this game was Dodge City’s strong hitting from the bottom of the lineup. Paxton Huff, Kayne Carlos, and Jacoby Radcliffe combined for 5 of the team’s 10 hits. The A’s exploded for 7 runs in the 3rd inning on the way to a run-rule ruling the Studs by the 7th inning.
After an early pitching change for the A’s, Tyler Fink threw 5 2/3rds innings in relief, allowing one hit and zero runs. Caiden Stewart got the start for the A’s, while Tyler Logan started for the Seattle Studs. The Studs starter allowed 4 hits and 7 runs over 2 innings.
Kayne Carlos was the star for the A’s, leading the team with 3 hits in 4 at-bats. The A’s defense was also on point, as they had 0 errors, and turned a double play to keep the Studs off the board.
2:00 PM: Hays Larks (KS) vs. Seattle Blackfins (WA)
Our second matchup of the day also featured a Kansas team vs a Seattle team. Up 6-2 in the 5th inning, the Larks seemed to be repeating what the A’s did in the first game. Hays shortstop Taber Stokes hit a two-run blast in the second, but the Blackfins’ Brody Blum matched him with a two-run shot of his own in the eighth inning, cutting the lead to 1.
The player of the game was Trent Baker, who had a double, two stolen bases, and two runs scored. The Larks showed off their speed today, with both Baker and Lane Sparks collecting two stolen bases, and two players hitting doubles. Taber Stokes also added a stolen base to go along with his home run.
Nick Grey got the start for the Larks, throwing 4 innings, allowing 6 hits and 1 earned run. Jack Fenton started for Seattle and threw 6 innings, allowing 10 hits, 6 runs, and striking out 9 batters. Nolan Wilson came in for Hays and pitched a shutout 9th inning to earn the save.
