Centex Collegiate Baseball League
The Centex League champions, based in Austin, make their third NBCWS appearance. Lonestar went 2-2 last year to improve to 2-5 in two previous appearances. Offensively, they collected 20 hits and stole five bases. Lonestar Baseball was third in NBC World Series in fielding percentage, coming up with a .986 mark with 97 putouts.
Lonestar Baseball is home to meritocratic baseball, where players are pushed and continually placed outside their comfort zones and earn everything they get. Lonestar Baseball takes pride in playing against the best competition around the country and places equal importance in honoring the great game of baseball through sportsmanship, effort, energy, and by having fun.
Lonestar Baseball was founded by Rob Johnson, Niko Gonzalez, Luke Owens-Bragg, and Steven Mazur.

WICHITA, Kan. – Thanks to a 10th inning walk-off single from AJ Mays, Lonestar, TX defeated Houston, TX MVP Prospects in the NBC World Series powered by Evergy on Monday night at Eck Stadium.

Charlie Overstreet led Lonestar offensively with two hits in four at-bats and Roberto Gonzalez of Houston, TX MVP Prospects came up with two hits in five at-bats.

Following an error by the Lonestar defense, the Prospects struck first in the top of the first inning thanks to an RBI triple by Gonzalez. Lonestar tied things up in the bottom of the third, scoring the tying run off a sacrifice fly to center field.

A sacrifice fly in the top of the eighth inning allowed the Prospects to grab the 2-1 lead, carrying the lead into the ninth inning by coming up with a 6-4-3 double play to prevent the tying run. Lonestar had the tying run advance to second base off a stolen base and later advancing to third off a fielding error, with a sacrifice fly scoring the tying run and forcing extra innings.

Lonestar forced a shutout inning in the top of the 10th inning, with Overstreet coming up with the game-winning bases-loaded single to advance Lonestar into the winner’s bracket.

Lonestar takes on the Hays Larks on Tuesday at 8:30 p.m. in Hutchinson. The Prospects play the Kansas City All-Stars on Tuesday at 3 p.m. in Hutchinson.

HUTCHINSON, Kan. – Behind 11 strikeouts in six innings from Carlos Tavera, the Hays, KS Larks defeated the Lonestar, TX Baseball Club 5-3 in the 2020 NBC World Series powered by Evergy on Tuesday night at Hobart-Detter Field.

Cruz Aranda led the Larks offensively with three hits in five at-bats, with a total of four players from Hays recording a multi-hit game. Lonestar’s Ronnie Bailey and Max Puls recorded two hits each.

Puls came up with a leadoff double in the bottom of the fourth inning, scoring the game’s first run off a sacrifice fly to center field. Two fielding errors allowed Lonestar to score another run and lead 2-0 later in the inning.

Two singles in the top of the fifth inning allowed Hays to tie the game up 2-2, with a wild pitch after a triple by Aranda in the top of the sixth inning giving the Larks the one-run lead. Lonestar knotted the game at three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning, but the Larks scored two runs in the top of the eighth inning off a fielding error and a single to keep the two-run lead.

Hays takes on the Cheney, KS Diamond Dawgs on Thursday in Wichita while Lonestar will face the Houston, TX Express on Wednesday at 8:30 p.m. in Hutchinson.

HUTCHINSON, Kan. – Behind 15 hits in eight innings, the Houston, TX Express defeated Lonestar, TX Baseball Club 15-7 in the 2020 NBC World Series powered by Evergy on Tuesday night at Hobart-Detter Field.

Gales DeVaughn led the Express with five hits in six at-bats, scoring four runs to go with five RBIs. The Express had four players that recorded multi-hit outings, with Lonestar having three players with at least two hits.

Phillip Jones of the Express shined in the final 6.1 innings of play, coming up with 10 strikeouts and earning the win in the process. Tristen Bayless of Lonestar recorded eight strikeouts in 3.2 innings pitched.

After being tied 2-2 at the end of the first inning, Lonestar used a five-run top of the second inning to move ahead 7-2. The Express, however, scored 10 unanswered runs to lead 12-7 after three innings of play. The Express scored three more runs to cap off the run-rule effort in the eighth inning.

The Express takes on the Rose Hill, KS Sluggers at 6 p.m. in Hutchinson on Thursday.
