Dustin Quattrochi threw a shutout for the Crestwood (Ill.) Panthers in a 2-0 win over the Denver Bombers in the first game Tuesday morning.
Quattrochi scattered nine singles and only walked one batter.
"Dustin was ahead in the count most of the day," Panthers coach Bill Storrs. "He made them earn their way on base. He had a couple of quick innings... six- or seven-pitch innings. Going into the ninth I was going to take him out, but he told me he was OK to finish up so I had to leave him in there."
Force fed — The San Diego Force put up 12 runs in the second inning of its 18-8 win over the Katy (Texas) Collegians in the 10 a.m. game. The Force almost batted around twice in that inning.
San Diego first baseman Christopher Moody was responsible for driving in three runs in the second. He drove in teammate Travis Taijeron during his first at-bat with a single to right field, and in the same inning Moody doubled to center field to score Brandon Decker and Josh Miller.
cccc — The San Diego Stars had monumental offensive outings from shortstop Anthony Long and second baseman Robbie Scott in a 13-6 win over Columbia (Texas). Both batters went 3 for 4 and drew two walks.
