WICHITA, KS – In Sundays night-cap the Chillicothe (MO) Mudcats received a stellar pitching performance by Sean Potter who threw a complete game shutout, striking out seven, to defeat the Everett (WA) Merchants 7-0 at the 76th Annual BaseballSavings.com NBC World Series.
Chillicothe had an impressive night offensively as well with eight different players contributing to a total of fourteen hits. Shortstop Jake Brown went two for four at the plate with 2 RBI, while Jared King was three for five and Brett Chamberlin was two for four.
Although, the Merchants were scoreless, Everett outfielder Andy Lyon was two for three on the night.
The win advances Chillicothe in the winner’s bracket where they will play the Haysville (KS) Heat Monday night, August 2nd, at 7:30 PM. Everett now has a quick turn around and will play the Nevada (MO) Griffons Monday morning at 10:30 AM in an elimination game.
